The teen, named Aryeh Shtsupak, was waiting at a bus stop when a device planted at an unattended bag exploded near him.
According to an unverified report, Shtsupak may have been a foreign national who had made aliyah. Shas leader Aryeh Deri eulogized Shtsupak on Twitter. "I am shocked and deeply pained by the horrific murder of the yeshiva student Aryeh Shtsupak by lowly murderers, I send my condolences to his family and wish a speedy recovery to those injured."
The two bombings took place almost simultaneously during the busy rush hour: The first attack was at a bus stop in a key intersection on the main road leading into the city, while the other was on an empty bus in the Ramot neighborhood. More than 20 were injured as a result of the explosions, including some passers-by near the empty bus who were hit by shrapnel.
