"Shalom was a warm-hearted person who helped everybody," one of the residents of the Kedumim settlement, where Sofer lived, said. "He started a business in the settlement and employed quite a few at-risk youths, and helped those who dropped out of school."
Sofer was stabbed on Oct. 25 after exiting a store in al-Funduq, a Palestinian village near Kedumim. He managed to get to his car and call for help and was evacuated in a military ambulance by the IDF. He was taken to the Sheba Tel-HaShomer Medical Center in Ramat Gan where his condition was first determined as moderate-serious. His condition deteriorated overnight Monday, and he was pronounced dead the following morning.
The perpetrator of the attack was found by forces after several hours of searching.
Sofer's funeral is expected to take place later Tuesday.
