Israel has recently begun to take a much more active role in the Ukraine war, The New York Times reported Thursday quoting a senior Ukrainian official.

Jerusalem has so far maintained a relatively neutral position and even turned down a Ukrainian request for air defense systems lest Russia limits its airstrikes in Syria, where it has a military presence.
But according to the official, Israel has recently begun supplying Ukraine with basic intelligence on Iranian drones, which Russia now uses on the battlefield, and a private Israeli firm even provides Ukraine with satellite imagery of Russian troop positions.
Since the Feb. 24 invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has lamented the lack of military help from Israel, including the kind that would help protect civilians against Russian airstrikes.
Just on Thursday, Ukraine's capital region was struck by Iranian-made kamikaze drones, officials said, sending rescue workers rushing to the scene as residents awoke to air raid sirens for the fourth consecutive morning following Russia's major assault across the country earlier this week.
Kyiv regional governor Oleksiy Kuleba said the strike occurred in the area around the capital. It wasn't yet clear if there were any casualties.
Deputy head of the presidential office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on Telegram that "critical infrastructure facilities" in the area were hit, without offering any details on which ones.
