The IDF spokesperson said that forces were operating in the city "to apprehend two suspects involved in shooting attacks."
"While surrounding the house in which both suspects were located, an explosive device detonated and the suspects opened fire toward the security forces. The security forces fired back according to standard operating procedures and the two suspects were both killed," the military statement said.
One of the suspects – Abed al-Rahman Hazem – was the brother of Ra'ad Hazem, who killed three Israelis and injured a dozen others at a Tel Aviv bar in April. He was killed in a shootout with security officers in Jaffa after an overnight manhunt.
