In 2020, then-US President Donald Trump sent a signed letter to then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorizing Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, The Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday.

The letter, dated Jan. 26, 2020, was written just two days before Trump presented his historic peace plan in the White House.
In exchange for such recognition, Trump asked Netanyahu to accept a future Palestinian state.
"In exchange for Israel implementing these policies and formally adopting detailed territorial plans not inconsistent with the Conceptual Map attached to my Vision – the United States will recognize Israeli sovereignty in those areas of the West Bank that my vision contemplates as being part of Israel," the letter said.
The document calls into question the narrative of Breaking History: A White House Memoir, a new book by Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and former senior adviser.
In his book, Kushner writes that he and Trump were unaware of such proceedings and that former US ambassador to Israel David Friedman went behind their back and "assured Bibi that he would get the White House to support annexation more immediately."
After formally unveiling the peace plan on Jan. 28, 2020, Netanyahu said in a press conference that Israeli sovereignty would be implemented in Judea and Samaria in the coming days, whereas Kushner told the media the opposite.
