The Border Police, IDF and the Shin Bet security agency launched an hours-long operation, in conjunction with Israel Police counter-terror personnel, to arrest several terrorist operatives who had barricaded themselves in a home in the citadel in the old city of Nablus.
After the police Counterterrorism Unit arrived at the home in question, a battle ensued with the people inside and on the roof, who fired at the police and threw explosive devices at them. The police special forces responded with live fire and other combat measures.

While the clashes were unfolding, another group of armed terrorists arrived from the outskirts of the city and fired at the Israeli forces. The counter-terror police returned fire and identified that several of the attackers had been hit.
According to Palestinian reports, two terrorists were killed and nine others were wounded. The Palestinians named the casualties at Mohammed al-Azizi and Abud Subuh. The Palestinian reports noted that clashes of this magnitude hadn't taken place in Nablus for years.
Videos of the events uploaded to social media include calls from a local mosque, urging residents to arm themselves and join the fight.
Once the shooting was over, the counterterrorism personnel entered the home and conducted a sweep that yielded a large stock of guns, explosives, and other weapons.
