According to available details, a Palestinian vessel left Egypt en route to Gaza and entered the no-sail zone off the Strip's coast.
An INF ship patrolling the area hailed the Palestinian vessel several times, then opened fire in its direction, in accordance with the IDF's rule of engagement. The men on board jumped ship and swam to the Gaza coast.
The vessel was found to be carrying weapons and equipment the IDF said was earmarked for Hamas, the terrorist group controlling the Gaza Strip.
