MK Merav Michaeli won the Labor Party leadership primary, held Monday, becoming the first party leader to be elected in back-to-back primaries since Labor instated internal elections two decades ago.

Michaeli, currently the transportation minister secured her victory with 82.48% of the votes cast. Her sole challenger, Eran Hermoni, won 16.16% of the votes. Some 207 party members (1.37% of the votes) abstained.
Labor has scheduled a second primary, this one for the party's slate ahead of the Nov. 1 general election, for Aug. 9.
