After Saudi Arabia announced Friday that it would open its airspace to all flights, including those departing from Israel and operated by Israeli airlines, Arkia began considering additional destinations – Sri Lanka and Thailand.

The ability to fly over Saudi Arabia will considerably shorten the flight time.
"Opening the skies over Saudi Arabia is wonderful news for travelers. It will lead to a variety of new destinations in the far East, with shorter times and cheaper tickets. A flight to India will take almost as little time as a flight to London – that's a revolution," said Arkia International CEO Oz Berlowitz.
"In addition to flights to Goa in India, where we already fly, we're considering launching new destinations such as Thailand and Sri Lanka," Berlowitz said.
