"In the next coming months, our goal is to run the state as if no elections are coming," he said. "Israelis deserve a functioning government at all times. This is the expectation from us, and this is my expectation from my fellow ministers.
"The education crisis cannot wait. Budgets for hospitals cannot be postponed. The Iranian, Hamas, and Hezbollah are not waiting either. We have to act against them in all arenas, at any given moment, and that is exactly what we'll do."
Lapid, who took over as prime minister on Friday, will lead the caretaker government until the next elections, scheduled for Nov. 1.
During the Cabinet meeting, the new prime minister addressed the three Hezbollah drones that were intercepted by the IDF over the Mediterranean on Saturday saying, "Hezbollah continues on the path of terrorism and undermines Lebanon's ability to reach a maritime agreement.
"Israel will continue to protect itself, its citizens, and its assets. We will make decisions, we will implement moves, and we will continue to strengthen the economic, political, and security power of Israel," he vowed.
