The Jewish News ran an item about the new siddur, which was launched at Gesher School on Monday, the start of Britain's Learning Disability Week. UK Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis handed signed copies of the siddur to Gesher pupils.
The siddur is titled "Siddur Lakol" (Siddur for Everyone).
Mirvis told Jewish News that the title of the siddur allowed "every Jewish person to feel a connection to Judaism."
JWeb collaborated with Gesher School and Kisharon, an organization devoted to supporting learning disabled members of the Jewish community, to develop the siddur, which uses PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System). The prayers and songs include matching PECS, graphic icons designed to help people on the autism spectrum. It will be published in two sizes and on general sale starting in September.
The siddur was developed thanks to support of the Daniels family in honor of the late Sonya Daniels.
