Russia's delegation to the UN is reportedly preparing a draft UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel, which it blames for the bombing of the international airport in Damascus last week, according to a report by the Kan public broadcaster.

Israeli officials believe the council is unlikely to enact the draft resolution.
In the draft resolution, Russia's UN delegation claims the alleged Israeli strike violated international law, undermined regional stability, and violated the sovereignty of Syria and additional states, in an apparent insinuation the strike was carried out from Lebanese airspace. The Russians further accused Israel of hampering humanitarian efforts in Syria.
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov on Wednesday summoned Israel's Ambassador Alexander Ben Zvi for a dressing down over the recent airstrike on the international airport in Damascus, which foreign media reports attributed to Israel.
In a statement, Moscow said Bogdanov "again expressed serious concern over the Israeli Air Force attack on Damascus' airport, which damaged a runway, navigation equipment, and structures and harmed international civilian aviation traffic."
Bogdanov told Ben Zvi: "The justifications received from the Israeli side regarding the attack appear unconvincing and Moscow awaits further clarifications, among other things, through the existing Russian-Israeli mechanism for preventing dangerous incidents in Syria ..." The deputy minister also expressed concern over what he said would be a blow to the supply of UN humanitarian aid to millions of Syrians as a result of the damage to runways at the airport.
An official in Jerusalem, however, told Israel Hayom, "Iran continues to use Syria's territory and Damascus' international airport to smuggle weapons."
Russia is unhappy with Israel's stance on the war in Ukraine. Israel is set to provide the EU with natural gas in a move that will help the continent contend with an embargo on Russian oil and gas. Furthermore, the Israeli government has decided to discuss a request submitted last week by Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal for Jerusalem to provide hundreds of millions of dollars in financial aid.
