According to a statement, Herzog stressed that the threat "has not yet passed" and that "counterterror efforts must continue."
Israel's Counterterrorism Bureau has recently raised its travel warning for Istanbul to 4, the highest level in light of increased concerns about Iranian plans to attack Israelis. Other parts of Turkey are under a Level 3 warning, and the NSC has advised that Israelis avoid non-essential travel to all parts of the country.
Herzog thanked Erdogan for his "efforts to thwart terrorist activities on Turkish soil." The two vowed to "continue to work toward peace and regional stability through continuous and open dialogue."
