The department within the IDF Manpower Directorate responsible for enlisting ultra-Orthodox men continued to be in disarray after two senior officials were dismissed within hours of one another on Thursday.

The dismissals were just the latest in a series of abnormal events to take place in the department in recent years.
The IDF has been contending with a massive drop in Haredi enlistment, including but not restricted to the Netzah Yehuda combat battalion, which has been the focus of several negative headlines in recent months.
Some two weeks ago, Israel Hayom reported that as a result of the low enlistment figures, the IDF recently considered shutting down a platoon in the Netzah Yehuda battalion.
This week, as stated, the decision was made to relieve senior officials – the head of enlistment and head of policy and training – of their duties after failing to meet the army's enlistment goals for Haredim.
"The assignment and appointment process in the IDF is professional and pragmatic. Decisions on this matter stand on their own, in light of the characteristics of the role and the needs of the army. The Haredi department is continuing to do its job at all times to facilitate an optimal and efficient enlistment process for youngsters from the Haredi sector," the IDF said in a statement.
