The Israeli women's national team, which made its historic international debut in Belgrade in March, was only established in July 2021.
Iran, which was due to face off against Israel at this year's competition, withdrew from the event to avoid competing against the Israeli athletes.
The decision to allow Israel to host the competition in 2023 was further bad news for the Iranian team, which will almost assuredly boycott the event altogether.
The tournament is slated to begin on March 27, 2023, at the Canada Center in Metula in northern Israel. The venue has a capacity of 800 seats.
