The Israeli Embassy in Italy was one of the organizers this week of the "Agriculture Meets Innovation" conference in Naples, with more than 100 Israeli and Italian firms and businesses taking part.

The agritech summit saw "an intense three-day event that put Israeli entrepreneurs together with their Italian counterparts to form close contacts and focus on developing Italy's southern agricultural landscape," Israeli Ambassador Dr. Dror Eydar said.
According to Eydar, the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio called Israel "the Start-Up Nation" and "talked fondly on Israel, its technological and scientific know-how and his great desire to deepen the collaboration between Israel and Italy have on the topics that were covered in the summit."
Eydar went on to say that the "synergy between Israel and Italy can produce great benefits and the two countries, which border the Mediterranean Sea, can play a crucial role in leading the world on food tech."
According to the ambassador, who hopes this becomes an annual conference, deals worth "tens of millions of euros," were inked in the event. "We hope that all the countries in the Mediterranean Sea, including the Arab nations, will join us, and we hope it becomes a major conference on this issue."
