"We have to do everything to avoid elections, but the only way to bring Yamina or New Hope closer to agreeing to sit in a government with the Likud is the threat of elections," a senior Likud official said.
He further called the prospect that renegade Yamina MK Amichai Chikli would form a party a "disaster," adding, "We don't need another party to take votes away from Likud. If he fails to pass the [four-seat] electoral threshold it would be a disaster. In the next government, he could be a minister by external appointment."
