Organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, the parade is considered the largest US march in support of the Jewish state, attended annually by over 40,000 marchers, including dignitaries, entertainers, artists, musicians, dancers, celebrities, floats, and marching bands.
In 2020 and 2021, the parade was held virtually. The theme of this year's celebration is "Together again."
Defense Minister Benny Gantz is slated to represent Israel at the parade, as well as Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai, Housing and Construction minister Ze'ev Elkin, Aliyah and Integration Minister Pnina Tamano-Shata, and other Israeli lawmakers, such as Ofir Akunis (Likud), Gilad Kariv (Labor). Former Ambassador of Israel to the United States and now Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan, and Consul General of Israel in New York Asaf Zamir are also scheduled to attend the event.
American dignitaries at the parade will include Mayor of New York City Eric Adams, Governor of New York Kathy Hochul and congressmen Jerrold Nadler and Lee Zeldin.
Israeli singer Eliad Nachum and rappers Nissim Black and Kosha Dillz will perform at the event.
"This year's parade will be marked by the unity among all the movements of the Jewish people and between Israel and the Diaspora, and will be a crushing response to the rise of antisemitism in the United States and terrorism in Israel," CEO of JCRC-NY Gideon Taylor said in a statement. "After the break in meeting each other that was forced on us by the Corona, we are excited to walk the streets again and demonstrate our support for the State of Israel."
