Abbas praised the family as one that has brought forth "heroic wounded prisoners and commanders."
Zubeidi is the brother of Zakaria Zubeidi, the notorious former commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing.
Zubeidi was initially hospitalized in Jenin suffering what Palestinian media described as gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
His condition deteriorated and Israel reportedly agreed to the local hospital's request to have him moved. He was transferred by a Palestinian ambulance to the Gilboa crossing, where he was moved to an Israeli ambulance and taken to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
