The police said that "Another letter suspected of containing death threats and a live bullet had been sent to the prime minister's family and handed over to the Israel Police. We stress that there is a gag order on any and all details of the investigation, including possible suspects."
The police said that the threats were being investigated by the police Lahav 433 Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with the Shin Bet security agency.
Earlier this week, a threatening letter was sent to Bennett's wife, Gilat, at her workplace. The police and the Shin Bet are investigating.
This week, Yoni Bennett wrote a social media post responding to the letter sent to his mother.
"It's so sad that things like these happen because of incitement, and people's minds are stirred up by people (I don't want to call them people) who have a platform and influence and they should be sitting in jail for all the brainwashing they do," Yoni wrote.
The first letter drew condemnations from politicians on the Left and the Right. Bennett wrote on Twitter that "A political dispute, no matter how deep, should not turn into violence, bullying, and death threats. We need to do everything, as leaders and as future citizens whose future and that of their children is there, so that things like this will simply not happen. We're all human. Arguments and disagreements – yes. Bullying and threats – no.
"I'm the prime minister and a political person, but I'm also a husband and a father, and I have an obligation to protect my wife and children. We need to turn down the flames of the political discourse."
