Every year at 1 p.m. on Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism, runners in Israel participate in the Running in their Memory event, which is held simultaneously at various venues across the country.

Runners register with their own names and the name of a person they wish to honor.
This year, the run is branching out and will be held in Jewish communities outside Israel, as well.
Unlike typical races, Running in their Memory does not feature music or other forms of entertainment, and no winners are declared. Runners start and end at points of their choosing.
The international edition of the event is the brainchild of the World Zionist Organization's Department of Israelis Abroad and Boaz Yaakov, the founder of the annual run.
This year's run will start at 1 p.m. on May 3, and take place at the same time in Diaspora communities.
