The report came after Libya's youth fencing team dropped out of the group competition at the World Championships in Dubai on April 10 after being slotted against Israel in the first round.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti fencer Muhammad Ali Alfadhli, who refused to compete against Israeli Eitan Lemberger, was lauded on Twitter, with one user (whose account boasts about 250,000 followers), wrote, "Muhammad Alfadhli. A Kuwaiti champion who takes a stand against sports normalization and drops out of the World Championships in Dubai, refusing to compete against an athlete of the occupation. This withdrawal is the second in the hero Muhammad's career, who dropped out before the championships in the Netherlands in 2019 for a similar reason."
