In the past, most cars stolen in Israel wound up in Tulkarem and Qalqilya. Now, the data shows, most cars stolen in Israel are taken to Ramallah and Jenin. Modi'in led the list of cities with the highest number of reported car thefts, possibly because of its proximity to the Palestinian Authority.
The number of car thefts in the Haifa suburbs also increased.
According to Pointer, some 90% of car thefts were carried out using a cellular signal blocker, an indication that organized crime groups were involved. This represents a 12.5% increase from 2021, when some 80% of car thefts involved cellular jammers.
