Cleared for publication: Israeli security forces on Friday prevented a massive arms and drugs smuggling attempt over the Israel-Jordan border.

The joint military-police operation saw the troops seize 34 firearms, including assault and sniper rifles, hundreds of different caliber bullets, and 16,000 ecstasy pills, with an estimated street value of 2.5 million shekels ($770,000).
A statement by the police said that the troops involved in the operation arrested two men, both 25, who are residents of the Bedouin community in the Negev.
The suspects are slated to be arraigned on Thursday afternoon. The Police plan to seek their remand pending the conclusion of the legal proceedings against them.
