Seeking to encourage tourism in Israel, the Health Ministry is considering doing away with obligatory quarantine for tourists under the age of 18, including those unvaccinated, be it because they are too young or because of other reasons. Officials are expected to convene on Tuesday to discuss the matter.

If approved, the measure will most likely take effect next week.
On Feb. 2, Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov wrote a letter to Prime Minister Naftali Bennet requesting such an exemption – while keeping the mandatory coronavirus test upon landing in Israel in place – with which he seems to have complied.
Bennett is also expected to meet with health officials on Thursday to discuss the gradual removal of all restrictions on public life that had been introduced due to the spread of the Omicron strain by March 1.
This means Israelis will no longer be required to present their vaccine certificates in entrances to event halls. The indoor mask-wearing mandate, which remains obligatory for now, will also be debated by lawmakers next week.
