Hungarian-born Israeli skier Barnabas Szollos finished Thursday in sixth place in the men's alpine combined at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, narrowly missing winning a historic Olympic medal.

With a 2:33.18 score, he was only 1.07 seconds behind Canada's James Crawford, who finished at 2:32.11 and won bronze. Swiss skier Justin Murisier came in fourth with a score of 2:32.29 and Australian Marco Schwarz fifth with 2:32.71.
Austria's Johannes Strolz snagged the gold and Norways' Aleksander Aamodt Kilde claimed silver.
Szollos, 23, went on to compete in the slalom and downhill portions of the event, with an overall time of 1:45.04. In slalom, he finished an incredible second.
Szollos has made his debut at the Olympic Games this year, as has his sister Noa, who competed in the women's slalom on Wednesday and finished in 41st place.
In a rare instance on Tueday, she shared the mountain with Iranian skier Atefeh Ahmadi.
