After the Alfis winter storm blanketed the capital overnight Thursday, even the animal residents of the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo enjoyed the white and beautiful morning.

Two red pandas – Yin and Yang – noshed on their treats and enjoyed themselves in the snow.
The red panda, despite its name, is not closely related to the more well-known black-and-white giant panda native to South Central China.
The name comes from the Nepali word "panda," which means "bamboo food," and indeed, most of the animal's diet consists of this plant, which it eats for about 12 hours a day.

Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and illegal poaching – mostly for its fur – the red panda is listed as endangered on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The wild population is estimated at fewer than 10,000 mature red pandas.
