Speaking to comedian Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, Dinklage said that while casting a Latina actress to play the lead role was admirable, the studio was nevertheless hypocritical as it was still telling the traditional tale that reverts to harmful stereotypes about disabilities.
"It makes no sense to me because you're progressive in one way and then you're still making that backward story of seven dwarves living in a cave. What are you doing, man?" said Dinklage, who has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
"All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing. But I'm just like, what are you doing?" the actor said, expressing hopes for a Snow White remake with "a cool or progressive spin on it."
Disney's live-action Snow White will begin production this year with Gal Gadot to star as the evil queen. The studio has not yet announced a release date.
