She was buried next to her husband, the late President Chaim Herzog, in the Great Leaders of the Nation's Plot in the National Cemetery on Mount Herzl, in Jerusalem.
"Mother, you had three great loves in your life. First of all, your love of father and the family. You were his source of strength and his partner on his extraordinary life journey," President Herzog said in his eulogy.

"Your second love was the State of Israel, for whose prosperity you worked for all your life in various and diverse fields.
"Your third love was for good taste, aesthetics, warm and high-quality hospitality, cordially welcoming guests, and understanding the big wide world, all of which you featured in a best-selling book that taught generations of Israelis on how to conduct themselves in a world of complex rules.
"To all of us you were a very loving mother, a source of power and strength, an engine of incredible energy, always full of love, inspiration, and principles," Herzog said.
Former President Reuven Rivlin also attended the ceremony, as did dozens of other politicians, Herzog family members and officials.
Speaking to Israel Hayom, Rivlin said, "Aura Herzog was worthy of being Israel's first lady. She most symbolized the ingathering of the Jewish people from exile. Born in Egypt, she moved to [pre-state] Israel. I will never forget that before I became president, she explained to us all the house procedures and gave us very good and interesting advice."
