In honor of Israel's National Doctor's Day, Saidyan thanked the medical staff taking care of him.
"Hello, dear doctors. I, Itzik Saidyan, want to wish you a happy and joyful day and to thank Sheba Hospital, the burn unit and all the doctors, Professor Josef Haik and Dr. Moti Harats and all the nurses," Saidyan says in a recording released by the Sheba Medical Center, where he is hospitalized.
The IDF veteran, who fought in the 2014 Protective Edge and suffered from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, set himself on fire on April 12, 2021, to protest alleged neglect by authorities, causing a national reckoning over care for military veterans.
He has been hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center ever since.
