PM vows to 'settle score' with terrorists after deadly attack in northern Samaria

Shooting at Israeli vehcile kills a man in his twenties. Manhunt underway, as defense minsiter vows to "catch the perpetrator."

An Israeli man was killed and two others sustained light wounds in northern Samaria on Thursday night in a terrorist incident. According to initial reports, the perpetrators fired on the Israelis' vehicle on the road between Homesh and Shavei Shomron settlement.

The Israeli fatality, who was in his twenties, was rushed to the hospital by first responders but succumbed to his wounds.  "When we arrived at the scene we saw the vehicle near the back entrance to Shavei Shomron," recalled one first-responder. "We as an unconscious man his 20s in the backseat with gunshot wounds. We provided him first aid with the help of military paramedics and tried to resuscitate him but eventually, we had to pronounce him dead," he added. He said that the other two victims – the driver and the passenger in the front seat – were treated for minor wounds that were a result of shattered glass. "They were evacuated to the hospital without any serious injury," he said. 

Forces were sent to the area and launched a manhunt. The terrorist group Hamas congratulated the perpetrators. The movement's spokesman said that "this act demonstrates once gain that the Palestinian people in the West Bank continues its legitimate struggle to completely expel the occupier from the Palestinian lands on all fronts." 

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett vowed to 'settle the score' with the perpetrators. Defense Minister Benny Gantz also echoed this sentiment, tweeting the following statement: "I would like to express my condolences to the family of the terror victim killed in Judea and Samaria this evening, and wish a speedy recovery to those who suffered injuries in the attack. Security forces will catch the perpetrator.  We will increase our vigilance and readiness to thwart terror in Judea and Samaria, and will continue to take any measures necessary in facing terror groups in the area."
