The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is launching on Nov. 15 the first-ever Israeli exhibition of renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Ninety-two-year-old Kusama is considered one of the world's greatest artists and has worked with other well-known artists, including Andy Warhol.

Following years of logistics and preparations, "Yayoi Kusama: A Retrospective" will bring together artworks created by the Japanese artist over an 80-year period. They trace Kusama's work in Japan, the United States and Europe, from her early paintings and sculptures to her immersive installations.
According to the museum, Kusama's "all-enveloping environments, including her Infinity Mirror Rooms and large-scale installations – the two newest of which were created specifically for the current exhibition – aim to overwhelm the senses."
"Never before has there been in Israel an exhibition of this magnitude," said Tania Coen-Uzielli, director of the museum. Kusama is "an important and pioneering artist, feminist, avant-garde, who has broken the glass ceiling and whose work speaks to all ages and all people, both those who know art and who don't.
"The Israeli audience craves exciting and quality experiences, and this show will give them the opportunity to enjoy an extraordinary cultural event," she said.
