Kirel is expected to perform her latest English-language hit, Bad Little Thing.
"I'm so excited and honored to be performing at Miss Universe," Kirel was cited by Variety as saying. "By believing in themselves and fearlessly chasing their dreams, these women from around the world live and breathe the values of the Miss Universe Organization, and I can't wait to share this celebratory moment with all of them on this incredible global stage."
The now 20-year-old Kirel rose to fame as a teenager in 2015 and has emerged as a singer, actress, and television host.
She has won the MTV Europe Music Awards for best Israeli act for 2017. In June 2020, it was announced that she signed a contract with iconic American label Atlantic Records. In December of that year, Kirel signed with the Beverly Hills-based WME talent agency.
Kirel is a sought-after talent who has collaborated with some of the biggest names in Israeli music. Most recently she collaborated with Omer Adam, one of the most successful singers in Israel in recent years, and with comedian Ilan Peled. The latter teamed with Kirel in honor of Pride Month, and the two released Trilili Tralala, a campy pop tune that gained instant anthem status with the LGBTQ community in Israel and has so far reached nearly 17.7 million views on YouTube.
The Miss Universe organization released details on the venue for the competition this week, saying that it is a custom-built ultramodern arena that was imported from Portugal.
The venue stands at a height of 16.5 meters, with an over 5,000 seat capacity.
