NBC's streaming service, Peacock, announced on Monday night the upcoming production of a new crime drama by David E. Kelly, which will be based on the novel "The Missing File" by Israeli author Dror Mishani and the 2019 Israeli tv show of the same name. The English adaptation, which will bear the same name as the book, will retell the story of police officer Avraham, this time within the context of New York City and the NYPD.

The streaming service has commissioned eight episodes of the series thus far, which will effectively be an international collaboration produced by Universal Studios and Keshet Studios. David E. Kelly, who will act as producer and screenwriter, has said he was "fascinated by Dror's affair" and "jumped at the chance to bring the story to life."
The original book by Mishani tells the story of the disappearance of a 16-year-old boy in a Tel Aviv suburb, and the subsequent investigation that is undertaken by Israeli detective Avraham Avraham. It is the first of many novels Mishani would write revolving around detective Avraham. After its original publication in 2011, it was translated from Hebrew to English in 2013 and adapted into a miniseries in Israel in 2019.
