In an interview with the Kan radio station Sunday, Sa'ar said that after coordinating with Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit, he had decided to allow the effort to move forward and that Gantz had the authority to determine when the proposal would be brought before the government for approval.
Likud party members criticized the move, with MK Shlomo Karhi saying he pitied "this man along with the disappearing attorney general. They see the cases they fabricated against Netanyahu crumbling, and they are overcome with fear."
Likud MK Miri Regev said: "This is Sa'ar's personal vendetta against Netanyahu. Time and again, Sa'ar acts in undemocratic ways, and personal motives to harm Netanyahu and move him out of his way."
