The body of 17-year-old Lital Yael Melnik, who has been missing for two days, was found on Saturday morning, partially buried near a park in Kiryat Motzkin in northern Israel. A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing her.

Melnik was reported missing by her grandmother after she failed to return home from the boarding school in the south, which started attending just last week. According to Kan News 11, the girl's parents do not reside in Israel
and the grandmother acted as her legal guardian.
According to the report, it was the grandmother who pointed the police as the girl's alleged murderer, giving investigators the name of a man from Kiryat Motzkin with whom Melnik had had a romantic relationship.
The suspect is employed in a psychiatric ward in a facility near Haifa. They met when she was hospitalized there.
According to Channel 12 News, the suspect told the police that the grandmother had issued a restraining order against him once in the past.
