The IDF said at least four terrorists were killed in what was described as a heavy exchange of fire in five different incidents across northern Samaria. The military confirmed that two soldiers with the Duvdevan counterterrorism unit, which specializes in undercover urban warfare, were seriously wounded.
According to an initial after-action report, the soldiers, which had been sent to dismantle a Hamas terrorist cell that had been plotting an imminent terrorist attack, came under fire in several villages as they were confiscating weapons and arresting residents.
In one of the villages, Bourkin, the gun battle dragged on and two Israeli troops were seriously wounded. Some 20 people were arrested in the raids, six terrorists were killed, and several guns were confiscated.
