A hiker found human remains Wednesday while on trip in the southern Negev desert, according to a statement by the Israel Police. It was discovered in the Ein Yahav Craters Reserve, near the Israel National Trail, a popular destination among hikers.

The hiker, an archeologist by profession, came across the skeleton that was sticking out from the ground. She immediately alerted the police and with the help of the Nature and Parks Authority, they managed to locate the scene.
Officers collected the remains that were transferred for forensic examination at the National Center of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv.
No immediate details were available on who the body may have belonged to or how long ago the person was believed to have died.
