Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced his pick for the Shin Bet security agency on Wednesday, selecting the current deputy of the organization.

The newly nominated director, whose name is still under military censorship orders and can only be referred to as R., served in the elite intelligence commando unit Sayeret Matkal and later joined the Shin Bet's operations unit. He holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy and political science from Tel Aviv University and a public administration Master's degree from Harvard.
R. has won various citations for his many still-secret missions. Bennett said that R. is "a courageous fighter and a terrific commander, and I have not the slightest doubt that he would take this organization to new heights to further Israel's security."
