The changes include the expansion of a buffer zone between Gazan rioters and soldiers. Also in the works is the engineering of the border fence in such a way that makes it more difficult for Gazans to approach Israeli security forces.
According to Walla! News' Monday report, the IDF has utilized bulldozers to build new mounds that will give security forces better control of the border area.
Sgt. Bar-El Hadaria Shmueli, 21, remains in critical condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head, according to Israeli media reports.
An initial IDF inquiry into the incident found that snipers from the Border Police's special raids unit were under orders to fire on threats at close range, while snipers from the Maglan reconnaissance unit were assigned to fire on threats from long range, according to the report.
In line with the findings, it was decided to have IDF snipers fire on armed attackers from a greater distance than past instances, according to Walla.

The inquiry further found that winds either blew away or mitigated the effect of tear gas dropped on rioters via IDF drones.
At the same time, the IDF Southern Command has beefed up its forces along the Gaza border.
The gunman who opened fire on Shmueli is a member of the Hamas security forces. He is reported to currently be in "Hamas custody" in order to protect him from Israel, according to the report.
