The Israel Police on Monday opened an initial investigation against former Mossad Director Yossi Cohen over suspicions that he had received illicit gifts, including one worth $20,000, Channel 13 News reported.

The investigation was ordered by Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit. Cohen is not expected to be questioned at this time.
According to the report, a decision on whether to launch a full criminal investigation depends on the results of the initial review.
