Hamas Politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh, who is based in Qatar, traveled to Iran this week to attend the inauguration of President Ebrahim Raisi.
In an interview with Nour, which referred to Hamas, the terrorist group that controls the Gaza Strip, as a "resistance movement," Haniyeh reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East.

Commenting on May's hostilities between the Jewish state and the terrorist groups in the coastal enclave, Hamas' leader said, "The nature of the Zionist regime is an aggressive nature, and it targets the Islamic republic and the axis of resistance, and this is the constant behavior of this regime."
He further warned that Israel was "making great political and military efforts to build security alliances, and one of its main goals is the siege of Iran."
When former US President Donald Trump pushed the so-called deal of the century he "claimed that the enemy of the Arab countries is Iran, not the Zionist regime, so this regime is always looking for a crisis and doing everything to keep the atmosphere in the region inflamed and has continued US support."
The outlet further quoted Haniyeh as saying, "I think that the Zionists are unable to impose a new equation on the region at the moment and have no power to confront the Islamic republic.
"Just as this regime has failed to counter the Palestinian resistance, it will also lose in this confrontation," he said.
Haniyeh, who met with Raisi while in Tehran, Hamas' leader he said he was "reassured" by the hardline president's statements "supporting the resistance and the Palestinian cause."
Iran's support of the Palestinians "is an ideology, not a political issue … and we are convinced of this, and we believe that what we have heard will certainly be implemented at every stage," he asserted.
