"We will not let attacks on Israeli civilians go unanswered," the IDF said on Twitter.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the rockets fired at northern Israel late Friday morning.
In a message, the Shiite terrorist group warned Israel not to respond to the day's rocket barrage, but IDF artillery units carried out retaliatory strikes against the locations from which the rockets were fired, the IDF reported.
The Hezbollah message said that it had fired rockets at "open areas" near Shebaa Farms in response to recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah is expected to speak on Saturday night, and Friday's incident could be part of the organization's preparations for that event.
Warning sirens sounded in several Golan Heights communities late Friday morning, and residents reported hearing explosions in the northern Golan and in Kiryat Shmona.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed in a Twitter post that a barrage of at least 10 rockets had been fired at Israel and that most had been intercepted by Israel's air defenses. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit uploaded footage of the Iron Dome system at work.
Rockets not headed toward populated areas fell in open territory near Mount Dov, the IDF said.
Prior to Hezbollah claiming responsibility for the attack, Arab media reports said that that pro-Iranian militias on the Syrian Golan Heights were responsible for the rocket fire.
