The police car and the man suspected of stealing it were eventually located near the Alei Zahav settlement. The suspect is under arrest. An initial investigation indicated that the police officer parked her vehicle outside the Petah Tikva police station on her way to deliver case files from Netanyahu. She reportedly left the motor running and the car unlocked while she was inside the station. The initial probe also indicated that the officer had left her weapon in the open car.
All the equipment inside the stolen car was recovered when the vehicle was found.
The deputy district commander has ordered that an officer be appointed to probe the incident, and all police stations have been instructed to brief personnel on patrol and security protocols.
