On July 10, the police received a phone call from a resident of Rehovot, in central Israel, who claimed that an intruder entered his house and used a shocker on him while he was asleep. Law enforcement immediately arrived at the scene and began to search for the suspect.
He was pulled over on his way to Jerusalem, with a black sweatshirt, a ski mask, a shocker and medical equipment in his vehicle.
Investigation revealed that the suspect is an anesthesiologist. He met his ex-girlfriend, a fellow doctor, at work. The two fell in love, but not long after, she broke off the relationship.
The indictment states that the suspect arrived at his ex-girlfriend's home, only to find her new boyfriend there alone, as she was at work. He also had with him a scalpel and a syringe, which forensics later revealed contained a potent anesthetic that in certain doses can cause death.
The suspect attempted to stab the victim with the syringe, but he awoke and began to fight back. The suspect then fled the scene, and the victim, who sustained light injuries, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
