According to the reports, Syrian air defenses engaged fighter jets that entered the country's airspace from Lebanon.
A Syrian military source said in a statement there was some material damage from the strike and no casualties.
Video footage of the alleged airstrike that claimed to show anti-aircraft missile fire and explosions near the city of Homs was posted on social media. Some online posters claimed the military airport near the city was the target of the attack.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor group, said the attack was aimed against military targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization, pro-Iranian militias and members of Iran's clandestine Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at the al-Sharyat military airport east of Homs city.
In a separate development, the IDF said in a statement that troops were searching for "two suspects" who were spotted crossing the Lebanese border into Israeli territory overnight Wednesday. The army did not say whether the infiltrators were believed to be armed.
Overnight Monday, Syrian news outlets said the country's air defenses had intercepted an Israeli attack on what was later reported to be a precision missile facility belonging to pro-Iranian militias and the Assad regime near Aleppo.
According to media outlets affiliated with Syrian rebel groups, five pro-Iranian militia members were killed in the attack.
