After causing uproar by voicing support for the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (BDS), Israeli singer Noga Erez took to Instagram Thursday to clarify that her words were misconstrued.
"I do not support the BDS movement and never did," she wrote.

Erez faced a backlash after an interview she gave to the London-based Huck magazine in March, in which she said, "if something terrible happens in the country, it does not mean that people who live in it are part of it or they want it – and that is the case in Israel" and "I believe BDS did an important job in putting the spotlight on the situation."
In the wake of the firestorm, she wrote in her latest post that she had no intention of maligning her country and did not anticipate the controversy that would ensue. "I love Israel and do not support any kind of boycott of the country, my people, and any expression of hatred," she wrote. "In my innocence, I did not understand how important the choice of words is and how deceptive the written word can be. I thought the answer I gave would be quoted verbatim, without them cherry-picking certain parts to make the headline sexier. I was wrong."
