Forty-five men and boys were killed in a stampede April 30, during the pilgrimage to the holy site at Meron on Lag BaOmer.
One of the first acts of the new Israeli government was to launch the state commission, led by former chief justice Miriam Naor, that will examine failings at Meron that could have contributed to the stampede.
Mandelblit said the state commission will be prioritized due to its "wide mandate," The Times of Israel (ToI) reported. As a result, the Israel Police and the Police Internal Investigations Department examination is being discontinued.
