According to an agency statement during the first 20 days of his detention – with the express approval of the Ashkelon Magistrates' Court – the suspect was denied the right to meet with legal counsel.
The court has placed a gag order on the suspect's identity, as well as on any other details pertaining to the nature of the alleged security offenses.
The suspect's lawyers, Avi Chimi and Moshe Weiss, said Wednesday that "despite the dramatic media headlines, this is a case that will peter out. Our client is a loyal citizen of the State of Israel."
