Turkish President Recep Erdogan has sent $50,000 worth of medical supplies to the Gaza Strip as part of his ambition to strengthen Hamas and weaken the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

The head of Turkey's Red Crescent, Kerem Kinik, landed at Ben Gurion Airport Sunday and crossed the border into the strip with medical aid and an ambulance.
Kinik entered the strip through the Israeli checkpoint, rather than the Egyptian one, because Cairo and Ankara have been at odds in recent years over their conflicting positions on the Muslim Brotherhood and the war in Libya.
